hi all and thanks in advance for all your answers
me and my partner moved house on the 30th april we moved from our flat in hertfordshire to a house in kent so i could be closer to my family
before leaving our flat we gave notice to our landlord/landlady and they were happy with the notice and our decision
on the day we moved out our ladlady came and inspected our flat and was more than satisfied with the way we left it and said we would have our deposite with in a week.
a week passed and we had no cheque in the post so we left it for a few more days incase the post was slow or delayed
after a few days my partner phoned the landlord who ignored our calls and voice mails so my partner text him to ask where the deposite is and again text messages were ignored.
three weeks had passed and so my partner called there house phone once we finally found there number and when the landlady answered she came out with the excuse that she had lost our new adress and would put the cheque in the post that night !!! That was over a week ago now and still we have no cheque
so what do we do now how do we go about it now
also in the flat my partner replaced all the flooring as the carpet they provided was really dirty and my son was at the age that he was learing to crawl and walk so they have brand new flooring throughout we brought a second had washing machine we left for them as the one they provided was broken and also we brough a cheap cooker as again the one they provided was in no fit state to cook any food and repainted the whole flat a nutrual colour
so in all fairness we left the property in far better condition to what they left it for us an i dont see any reason for them to hold on to my deposite
she also took on a new tenant the very same day we moved out so there for obviously has taken deposite from them so in fairness should have no problem returing ours
how do i go about the situation. what do i do to get my deposite back asap
