I have a 2 year old Akita who we've had since she was 4 months old. I got her off of a family who didn't take good care of her or train her at all. My husband and I spent ages training her and everything else and she became a really great dog
In December I got really sick. I was pregnant and put on bed rest... In January I had my daughter prematurely and we were both in the hospital for a few weeks. I came home before the baby did and the dog was just fine
Then we brought the baby home and she became a completely different dog. She's been jealous; trying to push in between me and my husband or between me and the baby. Destructive; ripping up the carpet, trash, cords, and other things. Pulling on her walks, carrying on, and has been going on the floor for NO reason. She's more than trained to go out by now and knows to ask but instead she's just been going on the floor. If I go out with the baby she'll wait until I leave and go no matter how long I take her outside for or how much she goes on her walks she STILL does this. She's constantly under my feet and tripping me when I'm holding the baby.
Also she's been aggressive towards me. She snarled and showed her teeth at me - I told her to go to her spot which is her sleeping place and I guess she didn't like it. And another time recently but I can't remember any of the details except that she was aggressive.
I no longer feel comfortable having her around especially with the baby. I don't know exactly how to go about re-homing her but I just can't keep her anymore. I'd like to know if anyone has any positive experience with re-homing or knows the best way to go about it?
