I've been at war with fleas for about 2 months now, I'll catch you up, my neighbor had a kitten that hung around my house which had fleas, my pets (1 cat, 1 dog) have never had fleas. Welp, now we do. I am boderline OCD, so I clean, clean, clean every day as it is. I wash my pets bedding once a day everyday, I move furniture and vaccum everyday, baseboards, couches, chairs, mattress, boxspring, hard surfaces and carpeting. I mop all hard surfaces and religiously clean my bathroom. Now on to the pets, I bathe my dog once a week, every week, sometimes I use Oatmeal based shampoo with Flea killer in it, other times I use Dawn soap, so give his skin a break from chemicals, I spray him down with Adams Flea and Tick plus with IGR in it (its for both cats & dogs, I know thew rules on using dog products on cats). I follow the same regmine with my cat. Although I've used Hartz drops on my cat, didnt do a DAMN thing, useless product with horrible reviews. I can gurantee I've checked every forum and site about fleas. I also had an exterminator come in a spray my house, I think he was a jackass basically, didnt know much about what he was talking about, even though its his job, I felt I was informing HIM about fleas, anyways, I brushed his idiocity off, and relied on the spray to do the job, which I'm thining now, that also didnt work. I am at a loss guys. I'm thinking of trying Borax or earth grade DE, I've also heard sprinking salt on the carpets works too, probally not a good idea, my dog is nicknamed 'licky monster' so I'm sure he'll go to town on the carpets, defeating the purpose. I'm literally going NUTS. I'll be moving in a few weeks to a new place, I'm going to repeat all these process before we move, and also, when all of our furniture is in the truck, I am going to 'bomb' it before we move our things into our new home. I can say my husband is.. cheap, to put it lightly, he refuses to spend 50 or more dollars for drops from the vets, per animal, which will top things at over 200 dollars in flea prevention to date. PLEASE, anyone, offer me some advice. Its getting to the point, where as much as I love my pets, I dont love thier fleas. If I cant help them, maybe someone else can...
