Recently a Halogen light bulb exploded in my dining room. It sounded like a gun going off and the whole room was showered in red hot shards of glass. On cleaning up - I found that the dining table and carpet were were covered by scorch/burn marks - approx 30. I have tried to claim on my contents insurance but they have said that the policy wont cover it as there was no actual fire. The policy says we are covered for fire smoke and explosion. I would welcome any advice
