I got a puppy 1 week ago today. When we got him we were told he was crate trained and house trained and fine being left on his own....
He goes in his crate and cries and spins around in circles and also scratches the crate trying to get out. This makes me wonder if he really has been crate trained??
If we go out and leave him at home he barks from the minute we leave the house to the moment we get back. He also leaves a lovely present of wee or poo. He has never had any accidents when we have been at home and he goes through the night without any problems. so it makes me think he has seperation anxiety.
I done a bit of digging and i think we are his 3rd of 4th owners in the the very little 7 months of his life. so im not surprised if he has issues. I cant see/speak to the puppy trainer until next week. so would apreciate any ideas or tips to get this sorted, or ideas of what to do in the meantime. i have ordered a collar that sprays him with water when he barks so the neighbours cant comlain which should hoefully arrive in the next 2 days. but really need the other issue of weeing and pooing fixed soon as i have a baby crawling around. and i cant keep spending up to an hour everytime i get home carpet cleaning.
i have tried putting him in his crate and leaving him but it made the barking worse. And he is able to open doors and jump stairgates.so trying to get him to stay in one room isnt helping....plus the fact that he scratches the door until its open. and as its a rented house i will get billed for any damage.
I have thought of contacting the previous owner to see if they had these problems but i found out they only had him for a month and i wouldnt trust them now anyway.
He hasnt been castrated yet. He is generally a well behaved dog(when we are home). He gets plenty of excersice and i am a stay at home mum so its not as if he is left for hours on end...but i do at somepoint need to leave him at home to do things and its getting to the stage im dreading leaving the house. Feel like we are letting him down and its completely taken the enjoyment out of having a dog.
P.S Rehoming is not an option as this is probably why he/we are in this situation in the 1st place.
