We have a 4 month old female kitten that will not stop urinating in the corner of our dining area. She's been to the vet and there are no medical problems. We have a small 2 bedroom apartments and 2 litter boxes so they both have their own. We tried keeping a litter box there, but given that it's in our dining area and in the same open space as our living room, everyone who came over smelled litter box, and we didn't like that. I clean it out every day when I take the trash out, so it's not too gross for her to use. We trained her to the litter box using confinement for 3 weeks when we first got he. Every now and then I catch her in the corner or I start to smell it. We tried retraining her again for a couple of weeks, but I caught her again today. We have another cat that is male, 1 year old, he has been neutered. They nap together and play together and generally get along well together.
I tried that Nature's Miracle to get rid of the smell and maybe stop her. I tried spraying peppermint essence because the vet said it was a natural repellent. I even shampooed the carpet with a special pet shampoo, and nothing!
Please help. My husband tolerates the cats for me but he is not a big animal fan , especially when they are behaving this way so I really need to put a stop to this!
