my 19 month old is in the middle of a sleep regression where she refuses naps and bedtime. For 5 weeks we tried supernanny's approach of returning her to bed, but she got worse instead of better, and it was regularly taking up to 10pm to get her to stay in bed, and even then she'd be up at 3.30am and in our bed!
so we decided to put a safety gate on her bedroom door, to make sure she can't wander around and hurt herself.
but now, she screams for about 1-2 minutes, then goes to sleep in her doorway. we can't shut her door as she opens it then lies against it.
she wakes up the second she hears us come upstairs because she is right at her door - then I put her to bed again and she will scream 1-2 minutes then go to sleep in her doorway again. If we make any noise or go to the bathroom, it starts again.
She's perfectly safe as her bedroom is carpeted and babyproofed, but I want her to sleep in her bed so we can leave her door ajar and feel free to use the bathroom lol.
on the bright side, she goes to sleep almost straight away!
any ideas?
